Olam Foundation is developing a system open to all supply chain stakeholders, on which they can all share information efficiently between their various IT techniques. The opensource platform is composed of standard protocols and APis based on blockchain technology, allowing the sharing of relevant data between different logistics organizations in a secure and authenticated way. The use of smart contracts allows the full digitalization and automation of varied processes, which today are carried away manually as well as on paper. Additionally, this uniform standard will pave the ways for new services and business models to engage in the marketplace with reasonably low entry obstacles. The system is inherently neutral, governed by an independent not-for-profit foundation. The trustless nature of the blockchain ledger and privacy elements supplied by the infrastructure will further guarantee no bias.
